About Jenny
Hi there! I'm Jenny Pitman, and I'm a mom of two amazing kids and an elementary school teacher with 20 years of classroom experience. Seven years ago, I found myself in a place many parents know all too well – desperately needing a break but watching my afternoon lifeline slip away.
My Story
When my 3½-year-old daughter Emily started outgrowning her nap, I had a moment of pure panic. Those two precious hours when both kids slept weren't just nice to have – they were my survival. I was exhausted, touched out, and not ready to give up the only break that kept me sane.
One afternoon, everything changed. I had just put both kids down for naps and crawled into my own bed, completely drained. As I'm finally settling in, Emily appears in my doorway: "Mommy, I'm not tired. I don't want to take a nap."
My heart sank. But instead of giving up, I made a decision that would transform our family. With my eyes still closed, I told her she didn't need to nap, but she did need to stay in her room and play quietly so her brother and I could rest. Her excited "Really? I can play?" was the beginning of something beautiful.
The Birth of Quiet Bins
Over the next few weeks, I started creating what would become the Quiet Bin Method. I filled containers with carefully chosen toys and activities that Emily could use independently without making a mess. I rotated them regularly and kept them hidden away, making each bin feel special and exciting.
The results amazed me. Not only did I get my break back, but Emily's imagination and creativity flourished. Her mood improved after Quiet Time, and she was learning to be comfortable with herself and solve problems independently.
Why This Works
My 20 years in the classroom taught me that children thrive with clear expectations and the right kind of structure. When you give kids aged 3-5 exactly what they can handle developmentally, while also meeting your own needs as a parent, everyone wins.
Seven years later, both of my children still use this routine daily. They've learned life skills that will serve them forever – independence, creativity, problem-solving, and the ability to enjoy their own company.
My Mission
I know how hard those afternoon hours can be when you're running on empty and desperately need just a moment to breathe. The end of naptime doesn't have to mean the end of your break. I created The Quiet Bin™ Method to share exactly what worked for our family, step-by-step, so you can transform those chaotic afternoons into peaceful time for everyone.
I'm here to help struggling moms reclaim their sanity and give their children an incredible gift at the same time.
